Director of Sales – Retail & Value Accounts

POSITION OVERVIEW:

 

We are looking for a strategic and results-oriented Sales Director to lead our sales efforts across value retailers (e.g., discount stores), grocery chains, and drug stores. This role is instrumental in expanding our toy consumer product presence within high-volume, fast-moving consumer channels. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in consumer products sales, a deep understanding of the Value, Food and Drug retail environments, and the ability to manage complex partnerships and deliver sustainable, profitable growth.



Responsibilities include but not limited to:

·       Revenue and Profit Growth: Lead the sales efforts for the Value, Food and Drug Channel to expand market share, cultivate relationships and drive retail performance which results in strong wholesale growth

·       Channel Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to grow revenue profitably across value, food, and drug channels.

·       Account Management: Build and maintain strong partnerships with key accounts (e.g., Walgreens, HEB, Dollar General, CVS, Kroger, Ross, TJMaxx, etc.), ensuring alignment with company goals and prioritizing customer success.

·       Sales Forecasting & Planning: Create accurate sales forecasts and collaborate with operations and finance teams to ensure proper inventory management.

·       Promotional Campaigns: Work closely with marketing to design and execute channel-specific promotions and merchandising strategies.

·       Performance Monitoring: Track KPIs and analyze sales data to optimize performance and identify growth opportunities.

·       Product Placement & Distribution: Ensure optimal product assortment, placement, and visibility across all relevant store formats.

·       Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of independent sales representatives focused on these channels.

·       Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with marketing, operations, and product development to tailor offerings to meet channel requirements.

·       Competitive Analysis: Monitor competitor activities within these channels and provide actionable insights to maintain a competitive edge.

·       Industry Events & Trade Shows: Represent the company at relevant trade shows and events to promote the brand and strengthen partnerships.

·       Additional ResponsibilitiesPerform other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Skills, knowledge, and abilities:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).

Experience:

·       Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).

·       Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth in consumer goods or toy industries (7+ years’ experience).

·       Deep understanding of the operational and promotional dynamics of high-volume retail environments.

·       Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.

·       Experience with CRM systems, forecasting tools, and data analytics platforms.

·       Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.

·       Ability to travel as needed to meet with partners, attend events, and manage accounts.

·       Strong skills & knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Access, AI Tools, etc.

Full-time on-site position located at our company’s headquarter offices in Boca Raton, Florida.

We believe strongly in the philosophy that we are Better Together and that the collaboration and teamwork of being with each other in the office supports our culture the best.  For this reason, we work in the office Monday through Thursday.  We have chosen Friday as our optional remote workday as we believe it to be the day that is most beneficial and effective for Basic Fun! and our employees..
